AN EXCERPT FROM KRISTINA BORN'S ONE HOUR OF TELEVISION
<<<<
Every so often, a child is born who needs your love. Even when you are
running and about to die, you smile because you will see him in hell.
You have the wind in your hair almost this whole time.
Later, after Jean-Philippe had taken my wife by force and I had been
separated from him for some years and succumbed to a certain
depression, I remembered his love for televised poker and watched some
poker on the TV. We used to be great friends. I remembered a great
many things.
The mineral distribution of enamel in rats is not the same as monkeys,
dogs, pigs, or humans. This means that when a rat grinds his teeth at
night we can hear it and find him anywhere in the world. When a dog
grinds his teeth at night it’s nothing to us, we tune it out. So if
one is not a rat one has nothing to worry about. One can, in theory,
carry on.
There is a point at which a person is unable to continue holding a
person’s hand. Perhaps he will be walking across a rotting log of some
kind. At any rate, failing to make it through the ravine, a person
will naturally sit down and live there forever. And the branch of the
redwood breaks off and is in his heart.
I think I would remember if I had gambled my wife away.
